Sweet and caramelized air fryer bananas make a quick and easy dessert that is ready in just 10 minutes. These flavorful bananas are coated with warm spices and brown sugar, air fried to golden perfection, and perfect served warm, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Bananas

  • 2 large bananas, sliced in half lengthwise

Spices and Sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Other Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Bananas: Place the halved bananas on a plate, cut side up, ready to be coated.
  2. Mix Spices and Sugar: In a small bowl, combine cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and brown sugar, mixing thoroughly to create the spice sugar blend.
  3. Coat Bananas: Brush the cut side of each banana half with melted coconut oil, then sprinkle the spice sugar mixture evenly over the top until fully coated.
  4. Prepare Air Fryer: Lightly grease the air fryer rack or basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. For oven-model air fryers, position the tray in the center.
  5. Air Fry Bananas: Place the coated bananas cut side up into the air fryer and cook at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the bananas are golden brown and caramelized.
  6. Serve: Carefully remove the bananas from the air fryer and serve warm. Optionally, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a light dusting of cinnamon for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas for the best texture when air frying.
  • Adjust cooking time slightly depending on your air fryer model and the ripeness of the bananas.
  • Serve immediately for the best taste and texture, as bananas continue to soften after cooking.
  • For a dairy-free option, use coconut or another plant-based ice cream as a topping.
