This Air Fryer Garlic Cheese Bread is a quick and easy appetizer featuring slices of Italian bread topped with a flavorful garlic butter spread and a creamy mozzarella cheese mixture, all perfectly toasted in the air fryer. Ready in just 14 minutes, it’s an irresistible snack or side dish that pairs wonderfully with marinara sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 loaf Italian bread or French baguette (I used Italian)

Garlic Butter Spread

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter, softened to room temperature (not melted)
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder (or 3 cloves garlic, minced)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon pepper (optional)

Cheese Mixture

  • 2 cups Kraft Creamy Melt Shredded Mozzarella cheese (8 ounce bag)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

Garnish and Serving

  • 1 Tablespoon dried parsley flakes (for garnish, optional)
  • Marinara sauce (optional, for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Slice the bread: Slice 1 loaf Italian bread or French baguette into slices about 2 inches thick to create sturdy pieces that hold the toppings well during cooking.
  2. Prepare the garlic butter: In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup (1 stick) softened salted butter with 1 tablespoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon pepper to create a flavorful spread.
  3. Spread the garlic butter: Generously spread the garlic butter mixture onto each slice of bread ensuring even coverage for maximum flavor.
  4. Mix the cheese topping: In another bowl, combine 2 cups of Kraft Creamy Melt shredded mozzarella cheese with 1/4 cup mayonnaise. The mixture will be slightly clumpy which is normal.
  5. Apply the cheese mixture: Evenly distribute the mozzarella and mayonnaise mixture onto each piece of bread. Then sprinkle each slice with dried parsley flakes for an optional herbal garnish.
  6. Air fry the bread: Place the prepared bread slices into the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 350°F for 3-4 minutes or until the cheese has fully melted and the bread is toasted. You may need to work in batches depending on your air fryer size. Check to ensure cheese is melted and bread is toasted to your liking.
  7. Serve: Serve the garlic cheese bread warm with marinara sauce for dipping if desired, making for a delicious and comforting appetizer or side dish.

Notes

  • If you prefer, fresh minced garlic can be used instead of garlic powder for a stronger garlic flavor.
  • Make sure the butter is softened rather than melted to allow easy spreading and the best texture.
  • Cooking time can vary depending on your air fryer model, so watch closely to avoid burning.
  • This recipe can be doubled or halved easily depending on your needs.
  • Use of mayonnaise in the cheese mixture helps achieve a creamy, melty texture, but can be omitted for a less rich version.
  • For added flavor, sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes before air frying for a spicy kick.
