This Air Fryer Lemon Garlic Shrimp recipe is a quick and flavorful seafood dish perfect for a healthy weeknight meal. Marinated in garlic, avocado oil, paprika, and lemon juice, the shrimp cooks to tender, juicy perfection in just minutes using an air fryer. With minimal prep and a short cook time, it’s an easy, delicious way to enjoy shrimp with a bright citrusy kick and savory garlic aroma.

Ingredients

Shrimp and Marinade

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 Tbsp avocado oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground paprika
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: Place the peeled and deveined raw shrimp in a zip lock bag along with avocado oil, minced garlic, sea salt, and ground paprika. Seal the bag and shake it well until the shrimp are evenly coated in the marinade.
  2. Marinate the Shrimp: Refrigerate the marinated shrimp for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. You can also marinate for up to 8 hours for a more intense flavor.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer: When ready to cook, preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C) for even cooking.
  4. Arrange Shrimp in Air Fryer: Place the shrimp in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Air Fry the Shrimp: Cook the shrimp for 4 minutes, then check for doneness. If needed, air fry for an additional 1 minute. The shrimp is done when it turns completely pink and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Avoid overcooking to keep it tender.
  6. Add Fresh Lemon Juice and Serve: Drizzle 1 to 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice over the cooked shrimp and serve immediately for a bright, fresh flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure shrimp are peeled and deveined before marinating for the best texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary for even cooking.
  • Monitor cooking time closely as shrimp cooks quickly and can become rubbery if overcooked.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor rather than bottled lemon juice.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled but cook shrimp in batches for consistent results.
  • Nutrition values are approximate and may vary depending on shrimp size and specific ingredients used.
