Banana Bread Overnight Oats deliver the comforting, warm flavors of banana bread in a quick and easy no-cook breakfast. Made by soaking rolled oats with mashed banana, nuts, cinnamon, and maple syrup overnight, this nutritious dish is ready to eat when you wake up, requiring minimal effort while providing a wholesome start to your day.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 1/2 mashed ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats, regular or gluten free
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice

Flavorings and Add-ins

  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Dash of sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons 100% pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Mash the banana: In the bottom of a bowl or a jar that can be sealed, mash the ripe banana thoroughly to create a smooth base that will infuse flavor into the oats.
  2. Combine ingredients: Add the rolled oats, milk of choice, chopped nuts, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sea salt, ground flax (if using), and maple syrup to the mashed banana. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Refrigerate overnight: Cover the bowl or jar with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, allowing the oats to soak and soften.
  4. Serve: In the morning, stir the oats again and serve either hot or cold according to your preference. Garnish with additional sliced banana or nuts if desired for extra texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness to your liking since the mashed banana adds natural sweetness; maple syrup can be added either during mixing or drizzled on top when serving.
  • Consume within 3 days for best freshness; if preparing for the entire week, add mashed banana just before serving for days 4 and 5 to maintain flavor and texture.
  • Make vegan by using any plant-based milk; ensure oats are certified gluten-free for gluten sensitivity.
