Ingredients

Meat Topping

  • 1 tsp oil
  • 400g lean beef mince
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • ½ cup boiling water

Pizza Bases & Sauce

  • 2 pizza bases
  • 6 Tbsp ketchup

Toppings

  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • 2 small gherkins, finely sliced
  • ¼ iceberg lettuce, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
  • 4 Tbsp burger sauce

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef Mince: Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add 1 teaspoon of oil and the 400g lean beef mince. Fry the mince, stirring occasionally, until it is browned all over and cooked through.
  2. Add Stock and Simmer: Dissolve 1 beef stock cube in ½ cup boiling water. Pour the stock mixture into the pan with the browned mince and stir well. Continue stirring and letting the mixture cook until most of the liquid evaporates. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper to taste. Remove the pan from heat and set aside.
  3. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 200°C (fan bake) to preheat while you prepare the pizzas.
  4. Assemble the Pizza Bases: Spread 3 tablespoons of ketchup evenly over each of the two pizza bases. Distribute the cooked beef mince evenly over both bases, spreading it all the way to the edges.
  5. Add Toppings and Bake: Scatter the finely diced onion evenly over the beef mince, then sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Add the finely sliced gherkins. Place the pizzas on baking trays and bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the pizza bases are cooked through.
  6. Finish with Fresh Toppings and Serve: Once baked, remove the pizzas from the oven. Scatter the finely chopped iceberg lettuce and sesame seeds over the top. Drizzle 4 tablespoons of burger sauce onto each pizza. Cut into slices and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use lean beef mince to reduce fat content while keeping flavor.
  • If you prefer, substitute ketchup with Big Mac-style special sauce for a more authentic taste.
  • Ensure the oven is fully preheated before baking to achieve a crispy base.
  • For extra crunch, lightly toast the pizza bases before adding toppings.
  • You can add extra cheese or swap iceberg lettuce for romaine for varied texture.
