Cheese Carrots are a fun and festive appetizer perfect for gatherings. This easy no-cook recipe combines cream cheese and shredded cheddar with seasonings, shaped into carrot-like forms, and decorated with fresh parsley to mimic carrot tops. Serve with crackers or fresh vegetables for a crowd-pleasing snack.

Ingredients

Cheese Mixture

  • 3 ounces cream cheese (reduced fat or regular)
  • 6 ounces cheddar cheese, finely shredded
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Garnish

  • A few sprigs of fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Using a fork, mix together the cream cheese, shredded cheddar, paprika, onion powder, celery salt, and garlic powder until they are somewhat combined. Then, using clean hands, knead the cheese mixture thoroughly until it is smooth and well blended.
  2. Shape the Carrots: Divide the cheese mixture into 5 to 6 equal sections, or however many carrot shapes you prefer. Using your hands, shape each section into a carrot form, tapering one end to resemble the tip of a carrot.
  3. Add Details: Use a knife to carve lines or ridges into the shaped cheese to mimic the natural texture of a carrot’s surface for a realistic look.
  4. Arrange and Garnish: Place the cheese carrots on a serving platter. Insert sprigs of fresh parsley at the wider end of each carrot to represent the carrot tops.
  5. Chill: Cover the platter with plastic wrap and refrigerate the cheese carrots until ready to serve, allowing flavors to meld and the shapes to firm up.
  6. Serve: Serve the cheese carrots with an assortment of crackers or crudités for dipping and spreading.

Notes

  • For best texture, use fully softened cream cheese to make shaping easier.
  • You can vary the cheeses or spices to suit your taste preferences.
  • Make the cheese carrots a few hours ahead to allow flavors to meld and the shapes to firm up in the refrigerator.
  • These are great for Easter, spring parties, or as a fun kids’ snack.
