Chicks in a Blanket is a tasty and easy-to-make appetizer featuring lightly breaded chicken breast bites wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough, baked to golden perfection and glazed with a sweet honey butter sauce. Perfect for parties, snacks, or game day treats.

Ingredients

Chicken and Dough

  • 2 (8 ounce) tubes crescent rolls
  • 24 ounce Just Bare Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Bites, frozen

Honey Butter Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted (salted or unsalted)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon light brown sugar, packed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a large baking sheet by spraying it with nonstick cooking spray or lining it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Thaw the chicken bites: Remove the frozen 24-ounce package of Just Bare Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Bites and let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes to slightly thaw, making it easier to roll in the dough.
  3. Prepare the crescent rolls: Unroll both tubes of crescent rolls onto a clean surface. Each roll is divided into triangles; cut each triangle in half lengthwise so that you have two smaller triangles.
  4. Wrap the chicken bites: Place one chicken breast bite at the wide end of each crescent roll triangle. Roll the dough around the chicken, starting from the wide end and rolling toward the tip, sealing the edges gently.
  5. Bake the wrapped chicken: Arrange the wrapped chicken bites on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart. Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and cooked through. You may need to bake in batches depending on baking sheet size.
  6. Make the honey butter glaze: While the bites bake, combine 3 tablespoons melted butter, 3 tablespoons honey, and 1 teaspoon packed light brown sugar in a small bowl. Stir until fully mixed.
  7. Glaze and serve: When the bites are done baking, use a pastry brush to generously coat each piece with the honey butter glaze. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious Chicks in a Blanket!

Notes

  • You can use salted or unsalted butter for the glaze based on your preference.
  • Make sure not to overfill the crescent rolls to prevent tearing while rolling.
  • These can be baked in batches if your oven rack or baking sheet is small.
  • Adjust baking time slightly depending on your oven, watching for a golden brown crust.
  • For added flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika in the honey butter glaze.
