Delicious and elegant chocolate covered strawberries coated with your choice of crushed nuts. This simple, no-bake treat is perfect for any occasion and easy to make at home by melting chocolate over a double boiler, dipping fresh strawberries, and allowing them to firm up in the freezer.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • Whole strawberries, washed and completely dried

Chocolate

  • Chocolate chips or chocolate, cut into small, even pieces (dark chocolate recommended for smoother melting)

Toppings

  • Crushed pecans, walnuts, almonds, or other nuts of choice

Equipment

  • Toothpicks (optional, to hold strawberries while dipping)
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Prepare double boiler: Bring a pot of water to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and place a heatproof bowl on top to create a double boiler for melting chocolate evenly and gently.
  2. Dry strawberries: While waiting for chocolate to melt, thoroughly pat dry the strawberries to ensure the chocolate sticks well to their surface.
  3. Melt chocolate: Add chocolate chips or chopped chocolate to the heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring occasionally until completely melted and smooth.
  4. Dip strawberries: Hold each strawberry by its stem or toothpick, dip it into the melted chocolate, and roll to fully coat. Gently scrape off excess chocolate on the side of the bowl to avoid clumps.
  5. Add crushed nuts: Immediately roll coated strawberries in crushed nuts for added flavor and texture, then place them on parchment paper arranged on a baking pan.
  6. Set chocolate: Place the pan with dipped strawberries into the freezer and chill for about 15 minutes or until the chocolate hardens firmly.
  7. Storage and serving: Store any leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Serve chilled and enjoy your homemade chocolate covered strawberries.

Notes

  • Make sure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent the chocolate from seizing.
  • Use dark chocolate for a smoother melt and richer flavor.
  • For a glossy finish, stir the chocolate gently but consistently while melting.
  • Feel free to customize toppings with shredded coconut, sprinkles, or white chocolate drizzle.
  • Serve immediately after chocolate is firm for best texture and flavor.
