These Cornflake Marshmallow Treats offer a delightful twist on the classic Rice Krispie treats by using crispy cornflakes instead of puffed rice cereal. The combination of buttery melted marshmallows and crunchy cornflakes creates a wonderfully sweet and crunchy snack that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 bag mini marshmallows (10 oz)
  • 5 cups corn flakes
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pot: Heat a large pot over low heat and melt the butter gently, ensuring it doesn’t brown, to provide a smooth base for the marshmallows.
  2. Melt marshmallows: Add the mini marshmallows to the melted butter and stir continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and combined with the butter to create a sticky, smooth mixture.
  3. Add cornflakes: Remove the pot from heat and immediately add the corn flakes along with a pinch of salt. Stir carefully to coat all the cornflakes thoroughly with the melted marshmallow and butter mixture.
  4. Transfer to pan: Pour the coated cornflake mixture into a greased or parchment paper-lined 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Use a rubber spatula to spread the mixture evenly to the edges and gently press it down to compact the treats.
  5. Chill: Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for 15-20 minutes to allow the treats to set firmly.
  6. Serve: Once chilled, cut into squares or desired shapes and enjoy your crunchy, sweet Cornflake Marshmallow Treats.

Notes

  • Use unsalted butter to control the saltiness of the treats, but a pinch of salt helps balance flavors.
  • If you prefer softer treats, decrease chilling time slightly.
  • For added flavor, consider mixing in cinnamon or vanilla extract with the marshmallows while melting.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
