These Football Cake Pops are a fun and festive treat perfect for game day celebrations. Made from crumbled chocolate cake mixed with creamy chocolate frosting, shaped into footballs, dipped in melted milk chocolate, and decorated with white chocolate laces and stripes, these cake pops combine rich flavors with playful presentation.

Ingredients

For the Cake Pops

  • 4 cups crumbled chocolate cake
  • ¼ cup chocolate frosting (can use canned frosting)
  • White sticks (from a craft store)

For Decoration

  • Milk chocolate disks (from a craft store)
  • White chocolate disks (from a craft store)

Tools

  • Piping bag with a fine tip

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the crumbled chocolate cake with the chocolate frosting. Use damp hands to shape the mixture into 2-inch football shapes. If the mixture feels too dry, add a little more frosting to help it hold together.
  2. Insert Sticks and Chill: Insert a white stick into each football-shaped cake ball. Place the football pops on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze until firm, about 30 minutes. After freezing, gently reshape the footballs to smooth out any imperfections.
  3. Melt Milk Chocolate and Dip: Heat the milk chocolate disks in the microwave until fully melted, stirring frequently to avoid burning. Dip each chilled football pop into the melted milk chocolate to coat evenly. Place them back on the baking sheet and refrigerate for about 15 minutes until the chocolate coating is set.
  4. Melt White Chocolate and Decorate: Heat the white chocolate disks in the microwave until melted and smooth. Transfer the white chocolate to a piping bag fitted with a fine tip. Draw laces and stripes onto each football pop to resemble a real football. Refrigerate the decorated pops until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use damp hands while shaping the cake pops to prevent sticking.
  • If the cake mixture is too crumbly, add more frosting gradually to achieve the right consistency.
  • Allow the chocolate coatings to set fully in the refrigerator before handling or serving.
  • To avoid cracking, do not overheat the chocolate; melt it in short bursts and stir often.
  • These cake pops can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
