This Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Ground Beef Stroganoff is a savory, creamy, and comforting dish perfect for those avoiding gluten and dairy. Made with tender ground beef, sautéed mushrooms and onions, and a rich coconut milk-based sauce, it’s served over gluten-free noodles for a hearty meal that’s both satisfying and allergy-friendly.

Ingredients

Beef Stroganoff

  • 2 Tbsp avocado oil
  • ½ yellow onion (sliced)
  • 8 ounces baby bella mushrooms (sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tsp sea salt (to taste)
  • ⅓ cup beef broth or water (for deglazing the skillet)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can full-fat coconut milk
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 to 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp gluten-free all-purpose flour*

Pasta

  • 8 ounces gluten-free spiral noodles**

Garnish

  • Dried or fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Sauté Vegetables: Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté for 5 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions begin to caramelize. Add the sliced mushrooms, minced garlic, and sea salt. Stir well, cover, and cook for about 3 minutes until the mushrooms soften, stirring occasionally.
  2. Brown the Ground Beef: Push the vegetables to the sides of the skillet to make room in the center. Add the ground beef directly onto the hot surface. Brown for 2 to 3 minutes on one side, then flip and brown for an additional 2 to 3 minutes. Use a spatula to break up the meat into smaller pieces and mix it with the vegetables.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the coconut milk, beef broth, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce (if using), and gluten-free flour until smooth and fully combined.
  4. Simmer the Sauce: Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the beef and vegetables. Stir well and bring the mixture to a full boil. Continue to stir occasionally and cook until the sauce thickens, about 8 minutes.
  5. Cook the Noodles: While the sauce simmers, cook the gluten-free spiral noodles according to package instructions. Drain them once fully cooked.
  6. Combine Noodles and Sauce: Transfer the drained noodles to the skillet with the thickened sauce. Stir thoroughly so the noodles are evenly coated with the stroganoff sauce.
  7. Adjust Seasoning: Taste the dish and add additional sea salt, Dijon mustard, or Worcestershire sauce as desired for flavor balance.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle dried or fresh parsley over the stroganoff before serving. Enjoy your creamy, gluten-free, and dairy-free ground beef stroganoff!
