This Grapefruit Cardamom Gin Fizz is a warm, woodsy cocktail featuring cardamom-infused gin, rosemary simple syrup, fresh grapefruit juice, and a sparkling finish of chilled Prosecco. Perfect for winter or any occasion, this refreshing gin fizz blends bright citrus with aromatic spices for a deliciously vibrant drink.

Ingredients

Cardamom Infused Gin

  • 1 cup gin
  • 6 cardamom pods

Rosemary Simple Syrup

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 rosemary sprigs

Gin Fizz Cocktail

  • 4 ounces rosemary simple syrup
  • 6 ounces cardamom infused gin
  • 1 cup fresh grapefruit juice (from 2-3 grapefruits)
  • 4 ounces chilled Prosecco
  • 4 rosemary sprigs, for garnish
  • 4 grapefruit peels, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Infuse the Gin: In a small jar, combine 1 cup gin with 6 cardamom pods. Seal the jar tightly and let it infuse at room temperature for 24 hours to allow the cardamom flavors to meld into the gin.
  2. Prepare Rosemary Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, stir together ½ cup sugar, ½ cup water, and 2 rosemary sprigs. Heat over medium heat until the mixture simmers and the sugar fully dissolves, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Once cooled, remove and discard the rosemary sprigs. Store leftover syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  3. Mix the Cocktail: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add 2 ounces of rosemary simple syrup, 3 ounces of the cardamom-infused gin, and ½ cup fresh grapefruit juice. Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for about 1 minute to thoroughly combine and chill the ingredients.
  4. Serve: Using a strainer, pour the mixture evenly into two ice-filled glasses. Top each glass with 1 ounce of chilled Prosecco.
  5. Garnish and Repeat: Garnish each cocktail with a fresh rosemary sprig and a grapefruit peel. Repeat the mixing and serving process with the remaining ingredients to make two more cocktails, totaling four servings.

Notes

  • Cardamom infusion can be adjusted for stronger or subtler spice by increasing or decreasing infusion time.
  • Rosemary simple syrup can be refrigerated for up to 1 week for multiple uses.
  • Freshly squeezed grapefruit juice provides the best flavor; avoid store-bought juice for optimal brightness.
  • Use good quality Prosecco for a crisp, bubbly finish.
  • Garnish with rosemary and grapefruit peel to enhance aroma and presentation.
