These Greek Yogurt Bagels are a wholesome gluten-free option that combine tangy Greek yogurt with dried blueberries for a delicious and chewy texture. Easy to prepare and baked to golden perfection, they make a fantastic breakfast or snack, perfect for anyone craving fresh homemade bagels without the hassle of yeast or long proofing times.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups gluten-free all-purpose flour (or self-rising flour)
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt

Add-ins

  • ⅔ cup dried blueberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, add the gluten-free flour, sea salt, Greek yogurt, sugar, and cinnamon.
  3. Mix to Form Dough: Mix on medium speed until the ingredients come together into a crumbly mixture. Then increase to medium-high speed and mix for 2-3 minutes until a thick, uniform dough forms. Fold in the dried blueberries at this stage and mix until they are evenly distributed.
  4. Shape Bagels: Form the dough into a ball and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball then form a ring shape by making a hole in the center to create the classic bagel shape.
  5. Bake at 375°F: Place the shaped bagels on the prepared baking sheet and bake at 375°F for 22-25 minutes until they start to firm up and lightly brown.
  6. Increase Heat for Final Browning: Increase the oven temperature to 450°F (232°C) and bake the bagels for an additional 3-5 minutes until the tops turn golden brown and develop a nice crust.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the bagels from the oven and allow them to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Toast as desired and spread with your favorite toppings such as butter, cream cheese, or cinnamon sugar blend for a delightful treat.

Notes

  • Using gluten-free or self-rising flour is key to the texture of these bagels; regular all-purpose flour will yield different results.
  • Adjust the amount of cinnamon and sugar to taste or omit entirely for a more savory bagel.
  • If you prefer fresh fruit, blueberries can be substituted but may add moisture and soften the bagels.
  • Allow the bagels to cool before slicing to maintain their shape and prevent crumbling.
  • These bagels store well in an airtight container for up to 2 days or can be frozen for longer storage.
