A classic and easy-to-make Guacamole recipe featuring ripe avocados, fresh lime juice, garlic, cilantro, red onions, and cherry tomatoes. Perfect as a dip or a topping for tacos, burrito bowls, or grilled dishes, this flavorful guacamole comes together in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Guacamole Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe avocados (about 23 ounces)
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 large cloves garlic (minced)
  • ½ tsp sea salt (to taste)
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro leaves (chopped and loosely packed)
  • ½ cup red onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Avocados: If your avocados are very firm, use a sharp knife to chop them into small chunks first. This makes them easier to mash evenly using a fork.
  2. Mash the Avocados: Using a fork, mash the chopped avocado chunks to your desired consistency, whether smooth or slightly chunky.
  3. Add Fresh Ingredients: Stir in the fresh lime juice, minced garlic, sea salt, chopped cilantro, finely chopped red onion, and chopped cherry tomatoes until well combined.
  4. Adjust Seasoning and Mix-ins: Taste the guacamole and adjust salt or lime juice as needed. You may also add optional ingredients such as jalapeño peppers, salsa, or sour cream for extra flavor.
  5. Serve or Store: Use the guacamole immediately as a dip with tortilla chips, or as a topping for tacos, burrito bowls, burgers, salads, tostadas, or grilled chicken. If storing, cover tightly with plastic wrap to minimize air exposure and refrigerate.

Notes

  • If avocados are very firm, chopping before mashing helps achieve a better texture.
  • Additions like jalapeño or sour cream can be incorporated for variation.
  • Serve immediately for best freshness and flavor.
  • Use fresh, ripe avocados for optimal taste and creaminess.
  • Cover leftover guacamole with plastic wrap pressed down directly on the surface to prevent browning.
