Ingredients

Guacamole Ingredients

  • 2 large avocados, ripe (slightly soft to the touch)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or grated
  • ⅓ cup onion, finely diced
  • ⅓ cup bell pepper, finely diced
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • Pinch of cayenne (more for kick)
  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt or to taste
  • Dash of pepper
  • 3 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime

Garnish

  • Lime wedge
  • Jalapeño slices
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Prepare Avocados: Peel the avocados and carefully remove the pits from the fruit to prepare for mashing.
  2. Score Avocados: Use a small paring knife to score the avocado flesh in a square pattern, which helps in easier mashing.
  3. Mash the Avocados: Place the scored avocado into a medium bowl and mash thoroughly using a fork or potato masher until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Add minced garlic, finely diced onion and bell pepper, ground cumin, cayenne, sea salt, pepper, chopped cilantro, and lime juice to the mashed avocado. Mix well to evenly combine all flavors.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with lime wedge, jalapeño slices, and fresh cilantro as desired. Serve immediately with fresh veggies or your favorite chips for dipping.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm avocados for the best texture and flavor.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper to control the level of spiciness.
  • Serve immediately to prevent browning; add lime juice to help slow oxidation.
  • Customize with additional ingredients like diced tomatoes or jalapeños for extra flavor.
