Refresh yourself with this vibrant Homemade Strawberry Lemonade recipe, combining fresh strawberries, tangy lemon juice, and a sweet homemade sugar syrup. Perfectly balanced and customizable, this lemonade is ideal for summer gatherings or a refreshing everyday treat.

Ingredients

For the Sugar Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

For the Lemonade

  • 7 cups water (divided use)
  • 3 cups hulled strawberries
  • 1 cup lemon juice (from 5-6 large lemons)
  • Crushed ice (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Make Sugar Syrup: In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Stir frequently until the sugar dissolves completely and the liquid becomes clear. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.
  2. Blend Strawberries: Place the hulled strawberries and lemon juice into a blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth, ensuring a rich strawberry flavor. Then, combine this strawberry-lemon mixture with the cooled sugar syrup in a large container.
  3. Strain the Mixture: Using a fine mesh sieve, strain the combined mixture into a 2-quart jug to separate the seeds and pulp. Press the pulp gently to extract juices. Return the pulp to the sieve and rinse it with 2 cups of water, catching any additional flavor and sugar in the jug. Discard the pulp after rinsing.
  4. Assemble the Lemonade: Stir in 5 to 7 cups of water into the strawberry syrup, adjusting the amount based on your desired strength and taste. For a sparkling version, substitute the water with club soda. Serve chilled over crushed ice if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by altering the sugar amount according to taste.
  • Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • For a sparkling lemonade, replace water with chilled club soda.
  • Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
