This Honey Sweetened Strawberry Lemonade is a refreshing and natural beverage made with only four simple ingredients: fresh strawberries, fresh lemon juice, honey, and water. It’s a perfect balance of sweet and tangy, using real fruit and honey for a healthier alternative to processed sugar-sweetened lemonade. Ideal for hot summer days or any time you need a cool, revitalizing drink.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 1 and 1/2 pounds (680g) fresh strawberries, rinsed, hulled, and halved
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) fresh lemon juice (about 4 lemons)

Liquids and Sweetener

  • 6 cups (1.44L) cold water
  • 1/2 cup (170g) honey

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: Rinse the fresh strawberries thoroughly, remove the stems (hull), and cut each berry in half to facilitate blending.
  2. Blend the Base Ingredients: Place the halved strawberries in a large blender along with 2 cups (480ml) of cold water, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and the honey. Blend on high speed for at least 2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Mix and Adjust Sweetness: Pour the blended strawberry-lemon mixture into a large pitcher. Add the remaining 4 cups (960ml) of cold water and stir well. Taste the lemonade, and if you prefer it sweeter, stir in additional honey to your liking.
  4. Chill and Serve: The lemonade will be frothy immediately after blending; to let the foam settle, refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours before serving. Serve the strawberry lemonade over ice for a refreshing experience.
  5. Storage: Cover and store any leftover lemonade in the refrigerator for up to 1 week to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Special Tools: A citrus juicer and a blender are recommended to easily extract lemon juice and blend the ingredients smoothly.
  • Straining Option: You can strain the strawberries if desired by blending them with 1 cup of water only, then passing through a fine mesh sieve before mixing with the remaining water, lemon juice, and honey.
  • Frozen Strawberries: Frozen, thawed strawberries can be used instead of fresh. Using frozen strawberries without thawing will result in a slushy-style strawberry lemonade.
