Hot Chocolate Fudge is a rich, creamy fudge infused with the cozy flavors of hot chocolate and peppermint. This melt-in-your-mouth treat combines semi-sweet chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, and hot chocolate mix, topped with marshmallows and a drizzle of melted chocolate for a perfect holiday dessert or anytime indulgence.

Ingredients

Fudge Base

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk (approximately 1 can)
  • 4 packages hot chocolate mix (about 1/2 cup)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Toppings

  • 4 cups marshmallows, divided
  • 1/2 cup peppermint candy canes or crushed peppermints for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan: Line an 8×8 inch square pan with foil or parchment paper and spray it lightly with cooking spray to ensure easy removal of the fudge.
  2. Melt Chocolate Mixture: In a double boiler over medium heat, combine 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips, butter, sweetened condensed milk, and hot chocolate mix. Stir continuously until the chocolate chips are fully melted and mixture is smooth.
  3. Add Marshmallows: Stir in 2 cups of marshmallows and continue stirring for about 1 minute until marshmallows begin to melt and incorporate into the mixture. Then remove the mixture from heat.
  4. Incorporate Vanilla: Stir in the 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract thoroughly to blend flavors.
  5. Pour and Top: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and gently press the remaining 2 cups of marshmallows on top of the fudge surface to add a decorative and tasty layer.
  6. Refrigerate: Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for 4 hours or until the fudge is fully set and firm.
  7. Slice the Fudge: Once set, lift the fudge out using the foil or parchment paper and cut it into squares.
  8. Melt Remaining Chocolate: Melt the remaining 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until completely smooth and melted.
  9. Drizzle Chocolate: Drizzle the melted chocolate over the fudge squares for an elegant finish. Allow the drizzle to cool and harden completely before serving.

Notes

  • You can transfer the melted chocolate drizzle to a sandwich bag and cut a small hole in the corner to make drizzling over the fudge easier and more precise.
  • For a mintier flavor, add crushed peppermint candy canes into the fudge mixture along with the marshmallows.
  • Store fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
