This Maple Glazed Baked Salmon recipe features tender, flaky salmon fillets baked to perfection and finished with a sweet and savory maple syrup glaze. A comforting and easy-to-make dish that balances smoky paprika and aromatic herbs with the natural sweetness of pure maple syrup, ideal for a nutritious family dinner.

Ingredients

Salmon

  • 1 1/2 lbs salmon (cut into 4 to 6 fillets)

Seasonings & Glaze

  • 2 Tbsp avocado oil, divided
  • 1 tsp dried paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 Tbsp coconut sugar
  • 3 Tbsp pure maple syrup
  • Sea salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare baking dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly coat the bottom of a casserole dish with a small amount of avocado oil or spray it with cooking oil to prevent the salmon from sticking during baking.
  2. Season the salmon: Place the salmon fillets in the prepared casserole dish. Brush each fillet with avocado oil. Evenly sprinkle paprika, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, and coconut sugar over the fish.
  3. Bake the salmon: Bake the salmon on the center rack of the oven for 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets, until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Broil preparation: Remove the salmon from the oven and switch the oven setting to high broil to prepare for glazing.
  5. Apply maple glaze and broil: Brush or pour pure maple syrup over the baked salmon fillets. Place the dish on the second-to-top rack under the broiler. Broil for 3 to 5 minutes or until the salmon becomes crispy and the maple glaze caramelizes.
  6. Serve: Spoon any remaining maple syrup from the bottom of the dish over the salmon before serving. Pair with your favorite side dishes for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Adjust baking time based on the thickness of your salmon fillets to avoid overcooking.
  • Can substitute avocado oil with any high-smoke point oil such as grapeseed or sunflower oil.
  • For a lower sugar option, reduce the amount of coconut sugar and maple syrup slightly, but note it will affect sweetness and glaze texture.
  • Ensure the broiler is closely monitored to prevent burning the maple glaze.
  • This recipe works great with other fatty fishes like trout or arctic char.
