Marshmallow Fluff Rice Krispie Treats are a nostalgic and delicious dessert combining the gooey sweetness of melted marshmallows and peanut butter with the crispy crunch of Rice Krispies cereal. This easy-to-make treat is swirled with marshmallow fluff and peanut butter, pressed into a pan, and cooled to create a perfect snack or dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
  • 16 oz mini marshmallows
  • 6 ½ cups Rice Krispie cereal
  • pinch sea salt

Swirl Ingredients

  • 6 tbsp marshmallow fluff (marshmallow crème)
  • 8 tbsp peanut butter (6 tbsp for mixing + 2 tbsp for drizzle)

Others

  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Heat Butter and Marshmallows: Place a large pot over low heat and add the butter. Allow it to soften and start melting. Once the butter begins to melt, pour in the mini marshmallows and stir occasionally, letting them melt into a gooey, smooth mixture.
  2. Mix with Rice Krispies and Salt: Turn off the heat. Add the Rice Krispie cereal along with a pinch of sea salt to the melted marshmallow and butter mixture. Fold gently using a spatula to coat the cereal evenly without crushing it.
  3. Add Peanut Butter and Marshmallow Fluff: Spray a spoon with cooking spray. Use it to dollop 6 tablespoons of peanut butter and 6 tablespoons of marshmallow fluff on top of the mixture. Fold the cereal carefully in 4-5 large strokes to create thick swirls of peanut butter and marshmallow fluff rather than fully mixing them in.
  4. Transfer to Pan: Prepare a 9×13 inch pan by greasing it and lining it with parchment paper. Transfer the mixture into the pan and use a rubber spatula to spread it out evenly.
  5. Add Peanut Butter Drizzle: Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and drizzle it over the top of the Rice Krispie mixture in the pan.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about an hour or refrigerate/freezer to speed up the process. Once firm, cut into 16 squares and enjoy!

Notes

  • Once cooled, wrap the treats individually in plastic wrap or store them in an airtight container to keep fresh for up to one week.
  • You can freeze the treats for up to 3 months; thaw at room temperature before serving.
  • For easier mixing, spraying the spoon with cooking spray helps prevent sticking when folding in the peanut butter and marshmallow fluff.
