Mascarpone Stuffed Dates with Maple Drizzle is a decadent and clean-eating dessert inspired by southern pecan pie flavors. Soft Medjool dates are filled with creamy mascarpone cheese, topped with crunchy pecan crumbs, and lightly broiled with a drizzle of rich maple syrup for a melt-in-your-mouth sweet treat perfect as an appetizer or dessert.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 6 oz Mascarpone cheese

Base

  • 24 Medjool dates, pitted

Topping

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 2 tbsp Grade A Dark Amber Maple Syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat broiler: Turn on the oven broiler and move the oven rack to the top position to ensure the dates will broil evenly and quickly.
  2. Prepare dates: Slice each date lengthwise creating an opening and remove the pit to make room for the filling.
  3. Stuff dates: Fill each date with mascarpone cheese, then sprinkle the tops with finely chopped pecan crumbs for added texture and nutty flavor.
  4. Arrange and drizzle: Place the stuffed dates on a lined baking sheet and drizzle evenly with Grade A Dark Amber Maple Syrup to add sweetness and caramelize under the broiler.
  5. Broil: Broil the dates for about 3 minutes or until the tops are lightly golden. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  6. Cool and serve: Allow the dates to cool slightly, then enjoy them warm or at room temperature as a delightful appetizer or dessert.
  7. Storage: Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • This recipe is adapted from Dates Stuffed with Goat Cheese from The Food Lover’s Kitchen.
  • Watch the dates carefully while broiling to prevent burning as the sugars caramelize quickly.
  • You can substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds if preferred.
  • This dessert pairs wonderfully with a cup of tea or coffee.
