These Pizza Pigs in a Blanket combine the classic comfort of crescent roll dough wrapped around mini smoked sausages, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni, creating a delicious, bite-sized snack perfect for parties or game day. Baked to golden perfection and seasoned with Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder, these little treats bring a flavorful pizza twist to the beloved pigs in a blanket recipe.

Ingredients

Pizza Pigs in a Blanket

  • 8 oz Pillsbury Crescent Roll Dough
  • 4 slices Mozzarella Cheese
  • 24 Lit’l Smokies Smoked Sausages
  • 24 Pepperoni slices
  • 4 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone liner to prevent sticking and set it aside.
  2. Prepare Dough: Roll out the crescent roll dough from the can on a clean surface. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into 24 small rectangular slices by slicing it into 6 sections vertically and 3 sections horizontally.
  3. Prep Ingredients: Cut each slice of mozzarella cheese into 6 small pieces approximately the size of a cracker. Pat the Lit’l Smokies dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
  4. Assemble: On each dough piece, place one piece of mozzarella, one slice of pepperoni, and one mini smoked sausage on top.
  5. Roll Up: Roll the dough over the ingredients, making sure to tuck the edges underneath and place the seam side down on the prepared baking sheet. Arrange the pigs in a blanket about 1 to 2 inches apart.
  6. Apply Butter: Brush the melted unsalted butter evenly over the tops of each rolled crescent.
  7. Season: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder evenly over all the rolls to add flavor and create a golden crust.
  8. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked, and the sausages are heated through.
  9. Serve: Remove from oven and serve hot, ideally with pizza sauce or your favorite dipping sauce for an extra burst of flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure the crescent rolls are tightly sealed when rolled to prevent cheese from leaking out during baking.
  • For an extra cheesy bite, add a bit more mozzarella inside each roll before baking.
  • Feel free to swap pepperoni for other deli meats or use vegetarian sausage alternatives to suit dietary preferences.
  • These can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking; just add a couple extra minutes to the bake time if baking from cold.
  • Serve with marinara or ranch dressing to enhance the dipping experience.
