Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 1 (14 oz) tube pizza dough

Fillings

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 (6 oz) bag pepperoni, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Dough: Unroll the pizza dough or crescent dough sheet onto a clean surface and loosely stretch it into an approximately 11 by 18 inch rectangle to fit the topping layers.
  3. Add Sauce and Cheese: Spread a light, even layer of pizza sauce over the dough rectangle, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top to cover the sauce.
  4. Cut Strips: Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into strips about 1 ½ inches wide across the width of the dough, preparing them for layering.
  5. Layer Pepperoni: Take one strip of dough at a time, then layer 6 to 7 pepperoni slices on top of the strip, overlapping slightly. Make sure the top halves of the pepperoni slices stick out of the dough to create the rose petal effect.
  6. Roll Dough: Starting from one end, carefully roll up the dough strip with the pepperoni layered on it into a tight roll to resemble a rose bud.
  7. Arrange in Muffin Tin: Place each rolled dough piece into the prepared muffin tin cups, spacing them evenly. Sprinkle the tops with Italian seasoning for extra flavor.
  8. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until they turn golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Cool and Serve: Allow the pizza roses to cool slightly in the pan before carefully removing them. Serve warm with extra pizza sauce, ranch dressing, or a drizzle of hot honey as desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute crescent dough for pizza dough if desired.
  • Adjust the number of pepperoni slices per strip depending on your preference.
  • Try other fillings like cooked sausage, mushrooms, or bell peppers for variations.
  • Ensure the pepperoni hangs over the dough strips to create the petal look.
  • Use a muffin tin sprayed generously with non-stick spray to make removal easy.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauces for extra flavor.
