  • 1 piece (½ of a 17.3 oz box) puff pastry, defrosted according to package directions

  • 1 oz crumbled goat cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pastry: Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly flour a countertop or flat surface, then unroll the defrosted puff pastry. Gently pat the pastry at the seams to smooth out creases.
  2. Cut and Shape: Cut the puff pastry into 2×2 inch squares using a pizza cutter or knife. Place each square into the cups of a miniature muffin pan and gently press in the center to form loose cups.
  3. Fill the Cups: Spoon about ½ teaspoon of jam into each pastry cup, then top with 1 teaspoon of crumbled goat cheese.
  4. Bake: Place muffin pan in the oven and bake for 14–18 minutes, until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  5. Cool and Serve: Let the appetizers cool for 1 minute in the pan. Carefully remove using a knife to loosen if needed—don’t let them sit longer, or hardened jam may cause sticking. Serve warm or at room temperature.

  • Use any favorite jam; consider offering two varieties for color and flavor variety.
  • Substitute goat cheese with blue cheese, feta, brie, or cream cheese as desired.
  • Make ahead by cutting pastry and placing squares in muffin tin, tightly wrapped with plastic wrap, refrigerated for up to 1 day. Add jam and cheese just before baking.
  • Avoid making the complete appetizer too far ahead to prevent soggy puff pastry.
