Ingredients

Burger Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp BBQ sauce
  • 2 Tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

Burgers

  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 8 slices of cheese
  • 4 burger buns, warmed
  • 2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 8 gherkin slices

Instructions

  1. Make the burger sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, mustard, and smoked paprika. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Prepare the mince patties: Divide the beef mince evenly into 8 portions. Place each portion between two pieces of baking paper and use a rolling pin to flatten them into thin patties. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the patties: Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and add the oil. Carefully transfer the patties to the pan by flipping the baking paper with patties into the pan, then remove the paper. Cook each patty until browned on one side, then flip and brown the other side. Once cooked through, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cook for another 30 seconds to allow the cheese to melt.
  4. Assemble the burgers: Spread the prepared burger sauce over both the base and top of the warmed burger buns. Layer two cheese-topped patties on the bottom bun, then add tomato slices, red onion, lettuce leaves, and gherkin slices. Cover with the top bun and serve immediately for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Using baking paper to flatten patties helps to achieve thin, evenly sized patties quickly and prevents sticking.
  • For an extra smoky flavor, consider adding a little smoked paprika or chili powder to the beef before cooking.
  • Warm the burger buns before assembling to enhance texture and taste.
  • Serve with fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
