Sweet Bugle Party Mix is a deliciously crunchy and sweet snack mix featuring Bugles chips coated in a rich caramel-like sauce made from brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup, combined with toasted pecans and almonds. Baked to perfection for an hour with occasional tossing, it’s an irresistible treat perfect for parties or snacking.

Ingredients

Snack Mix

  • 14 ounce bag Bugles
  • 1 cup toasted chopped pecans
  • ½ cup toasted sliced almonds

Sauce

  • 1 3/4 cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter (salted can be used for a more sweet/salty taste)
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup (can use light corn syrup)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 250°F. Lightly spray a large roasting pan with cooking spray and set aside to prevent sticking during baking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a very large bowl, combine the Bugles, toasted chopped pecans, and toasted sliced almonds. Toss them together gently and set aside.
  3. Prepare Sauce: In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the light brown sugar, unsalted butter, and dark corn syrup.
  4. Heat Sauce: Place the saucepan on the stove over medium-low heat. Stir constantly to ensure the sugar dissolves and the mixture doesn’t burn.
  5. Simmer Sauce: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and allow it to simmer for 2 minutes, stirring often and watching carefully so it doesn’t boil over.
  6. Combine Sauce and Mix: Pour the hot sauce over the Bugle and nut mixture. Stir thoroughly to coat every piece evenly with the sauce.
  7. Bake the Mix: Transfer the mixture to the prepared roasting pan. Bake at 250°F for 1 hour, tossing every 15 minutes to ensure even baking and coating.
  8. Cool the Mix: Once baking is complete, spread the mixture in a single layer on parchment paper laid on countertops or sheet trays.
  9. Serve: Allow the party mix to cool completely, then break it into bite-sized pieces and serve immediately for a crunchy, sweet snack.

Notes

  • Use salted butter if you prefer a balance of sweet and salty flavors.
  • Light corn syrup can be substituted for dark corn syrup, though the flavor will be slightly lighter.
  • Be sure to stir the sauce continuously to avoid burning the sugar.
  • Allow the mix to cool fully to become crispy and easier to handle.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness and crunch.
