This quick and easy Air Fryer Hamburger recipe delivers juicy, flavorful burgers cooked to perfection in just 15 minutes. Using an air fryer helps achieve a deliciously crispy exterior while keeping the inside tender and moist. Perfect for a simple weeknight dinner or casual cookout, these burgers are easily customizable with your favorite toppings and cheese.

Ingredients

For the Burgers

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • ½ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, divided
  • 4 slices American or cheddar cheese

To Serve

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Desired toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 370°F (187°C) and allow it to preheat for 3-5 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  2. Prepare the Patties: In a bowl, combine the ground beef with minced garlic, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and fresh ground black pepper. Mix gently to combine without overworking the meat. Form the mixture into four patties about ½-inch thick, making a small thumb indentation in the center of each to help them cook evenly.
  3. Start Cooking: Place the patties in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. Sprinkle each patty with a little salt. Cook for 5 minutes at 370°F.
  4. Flip and Finish Cooking: After 5 minutes, flip the patties carefully and sprinkle with additional salt. Cook for another 3-5 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for safe consumption. In the last minute, place a slice of cheese on each patty and close the air fryer door to melt the cheese with residual heat.
  5. Assemble and Serve: Remove the burgers from the air fryer and place each on a hamburger bun. Add your choice of desired toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, ketchup, or mustard. Serve immediately for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the ground beef to keep the patties tender.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can also cook these burgers on a stovetop or grill.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure patties reach a safe internal temperature of 160°F.
  • Allow the cheese to melt by closing the air fryer door; avoid placing cheese too early to prevent overcooking the burger.
  • Customize toppings and cheese according to your preference for extra flavor.
