This Crispy Salmon recipe delivers a perfectly broiled salmon fillet with a flavorful spice crust. Quick and easy to prepare, it features a blend of paprika, garlic, onion powder, and coriander, giving the salmon a deliciously smoky and aromatic taste. Ideal for a healthy dinner, this recipe yields moist, tender fish with a crispy top in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Salmon:

  • 1 (1-pound) salmon fillet

Seasoning & Oil:

  • 2 teaspoons avocado oil (or cooking oil of choice)
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to the high broil setting to get it ready for cooking the salmon. Broiling uses high, direct heat from above to crisp up the fish.
  2. Prepare Baking Sheet: Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray or lightly oil the bottom of a casserole dish. Place the salmon fillet skin-side down on the prepared surface.
  3. Oil and Season: Drizzle the avocado oil over the flesh side of the salmon and use your hands to evenly coat the entire surface. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt all over.
  4. Apply Spice Mix: In a small bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and coriander. Sprinkle this spice mixture liberally over the salmon, coating the top thoroughly for maximum flavor.
  5. Broil Salmon: Place the salmon on the third-to-top rack in the oven and broil for about 10 minutes. Adjust time based on preferred doneness—6 minutes for rare, up to 15 minutes for a thick cut. The salmon is fully cooked when the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  6. Rest and Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven and allow it to rest for 5 minutes to let the juices settle. Serve warm with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • You can save any leftover spice mixture for seasoning other proteins or vegetables.
  • Check the internal temperature with a digital thermometer for perfect doneness.
  • Adjust broiling time depending on the thickness of your salmon fillet.
  • Avocado oil is recommended for its high smoke point, but any cooking oil can be used.
  • Resting the fish after cooking helps maintain moisture and flavor.
