These Dark Chocolate Truffles combine the rich flavors of Thin Mint or Oreo cookies with creamy cream cheese and a luscious dark chocolate coating. Easy to make with simple ingredients, these truffles are perfect for parties, gifts, or a decadent treat.

Ingredients

Cookies and Cream Cheese

  • 1 box (9 ounces) Thin Mint cookies, or 23 Oreo cookies
  • 4 ounces block cream cheese, softened and cut into cubes

Chocolate Coating

  • 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 4 ounces chocolate bark (candy coating), chopped

Instructions

  1. Crush the Cookies: Put the Thin Mint or Oreo cookies into a food processor or strong blender, and pulse until they become fine crumbs.
  2. Make the Dough: Add the softened cream cheese cubes to the cookie crumbs in the food processor and pulse until a loose, combined dough forms.
  3. Roll into Balls & Freeze: Scoop out about a tablespoon of dough and roll it into a smooth ball between your hands. Place each ball on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper. Repeat until all dough is used. Freeze the truffles on the baking sheet for 20 minutes to firm up.
  4. Melt Chocolate & Dip Truffles: Combine the dark chocolate chips and chopped chocolate bark in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second bursts, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth. Dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate, shaking off excess, and place back on the parchment. Optional: add sprinkles now or drizzle additional chocolate after the coating hardens. Refrigerate the dipped truffles for 15 minutes to set the chocolate.

Notes

  • Use either Thin Mint or Oreo cookies according to your flavor preference.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened properly for easier blending.
  • Freezing the truffle balls before dipping helps maintain their shape.
  • Microwave chocolate carefully to avoid burning; stirring frequently helps.
  • You can add toppings like sprinkles or nuts immediately after dipping for extra texture.
