Ingredients

Pizza Sauce

  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1-2 Tablespoons dried oregano (to taste)
  • 2 Tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ Tablespoon garlic salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine Base Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, mix 6 ounces of tomato paste with 15 ounces of tomato sauce until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
  2. Add Seasonings: Add 1-2 tablespoons of dried oregano, 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning, ½ teaspoon each of garlic powder and onion powder, ½ tablespoon of garlic salt, ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of sugar to the tomato mixture. Stir thoroughly to distribute all the seasonings evenly throughout.
  3. Adjust Flavors: Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings according to your preference, adding more oregano or salt if desired for a stronger flavor.
  4. Use or Store: Spread the prepared sauce onto your favorite pizza dough recipe as a base for your pizza toppings. This sauce can also be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes

  • The sugar helps balance the acidity of the tomatoes but can be omitted for a lower sugar option.
  • Adjust the amount of dried oregano to suit your taste; start with 1 tablespoon and increase if you prefer a stronger herb flavor.
  • For a smoother sauce, you can blend all ingredients briefly, but mixing by hand works well and preserves texture.
  • This sauce can be made ahead of time and refrigerated to allow flavors to meld.
  • Use fresh ground black pepper for the best flavor impact.
