Ingredients

Dip Base

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup Italian cheeses (Parmesan and Romano), grated
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded (plus extra for topping)

Vegetables and Flavorings

  • 1/2 cup frozen spinach or 1 cup cooked spinach, drained
  • 1 (15 oz) can artichoke hearts, drained and finely diced
  • 3 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) to prepare it for baking the dip.
  2. Prepare artichokes: Drain the can of artichoke hearts thoroughly and finely dice them to ensure even distribution in the dip.
  3. Combine spinach and artichokes: In a mixing bowl, add the diced artichoke hearts along with the frozen or cooked spinach.
  4. Add creamy ingredients and cheeses: Mix in the softened cream cheese, sour cream, minced garlic, and the Italian cheeses (Parmesan and Romano) until well combined for a smooth texture.
  5. Add mozzarella cheese: Fold in 1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella and mix well. Set aside extra mozzarella to sprinkle on top before baking.
  6. Season the mixture: Stir in dried basil and red pepper flakes to add flavor and a slight kick; adjust seasonings to taste.
  7. Top and bake: Transfer the dip mixture into an oven-safe dish, sprinkle the reserved mozzarella cheese evenly on top, and bake for 15 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden.
  8. Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm with tortilla chips or sliced French baguette for dipping.

Notes

  • For best results, drain spinach well to avoid excess moisture in the dip.
  • You can substitute frozen spinach with fresh cooked spinach if preferred.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to control the heat level according to your taste.
  • This dip can be prepared ahead and refrigerated; bake just before serving.
  • Serve with a variety of dippers such as pita chips, crackers, or vegetable sticks for a healthier option.
