Ingredients

Seasoning Mix

  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp chicken bouillon powder
  • 1/2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

Chicken

  • 4 lbs chicken wings
  • Seasoning mix (from above)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder

Garlic Parmesan Sauce

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 8 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup pre-grated parmesan cheese
  • 4 tbsp fresh parsley, minced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the seasoning mix: In a medium bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, chicken bouillon powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Add the baking powder and whisk well to fully combine all ingredients.
  2. Dry and season the wings: Pat the chicken wings dry thoroughly with paper towels to ensure a crispy finish. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the wings. Toss the wings well until they are evenly coated with the seasoning blend.
  3. Arrange for cooking: Place the seasoned wings in a single layer on an air fryer basket or on a rack, making sure there is space between each piece to allow for proper air circulation and even cooking.
  4. Air fry the wings: Cook the wings in the air fryer at 400°F (204°C) for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy, shaking the basket or flipping the wings halfway through cooking for even crispiness.
  5. Prepare the Garlic Parmesan Sauce: While the wings cook, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic powder, grated garlic cloves, and salt. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in the parmesan cheese and minced fresh parsley until smooth and well combined.
  6. Toss the wings in sauce: Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl and pour the garlic parmesan sauce over them. Toss to coat each wing thoroughly with the sauce.
  7. Serve: Serve the garlic parmesan wings hot, garnished with additional parsley or parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Using baking powder in the seasoning mix helps achieve extra crispiness when air frying.
  • Patting the wings dry is essential for a crispy texture.
  • Freshly grated garlic imparts better flavor than garlic powder alone, but both are used for a robust garlic taste.
  • Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow even cooking.
  • Can be served with ranch or blue cheese dressing as a dipping sauce.
  • Leftover wings can be refrigerated and reheated in the air fryer to maintain crispiness.
