This Greek Yogurt & Dark Chocolate Mousse is a luscious, healthy dessert that combines rich dark chocolate with creamy Greek yogurt for a smooth and decadent treat. With optional honey for sweetness and espresso for a subtle caffeine kick, this mousse is easy to prepare and perfect for a guilt-free indulgence.

Ingredients

Primary Ingredients

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt (see notes for a homemade version)
  • ¼ cup + 2 tbsp whole milk
  • 80 gm dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1-2 tbsp honey (optional)
  • 2 tbsp espresso (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ganache: Bring the milk to a boil in a heavy bottom saucepan. While hot, pour the milk over the chopped dark chocolate placed in a medium heatproof bowl. Gently stir until the chocolate fully melts, creating a silkily smooth ganache.
  2. Whisk Greek Yogurt: Whisk the Greek yogurt until smooth and creamy to ensure a light texture that will blend well with the ganache.
  3. Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the whipped Greek yogurt into the melted chocolate ganache until fully incorporated and smooth.
  4. Add Sweetness and Flavor: Stir in honey to the mousse to achieve your desired level of sweetness. Optionally, mix in espresso for an enhanced depth of flavor and a caffeine kick.
  5. Chill and Set: Pour the mousse mixture into two small ramekins or serving cups. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight until the mousse firms up to a desirable texture.
  6. Serve: Serve the chilled mousse as is or garnish with fresh berries and chocolate shavings for an elegant presentation.

Notes

  • You can make homemade Greek yogurt by straining regular yogurt through cheesecloth overnight to remove excess whey, resulting in a thicker consistency.
  • The espresso addition is optional but adds a complimentary boldness to the chocolate flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of honey based on your sweetness preference or substitute with other sweeteners like maple syrup or agave.
  • Use good quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher) for the best flavor and texture.
  • Chilling time is essential for mousse to set properly; plan accordingly.
