A quick and flavorful recipe for ground chicken tacos, seasoned perfectly and cooked on the stovetop, served with your favorite taco fixings like shredded cheese, salsa, and avocado. Perfect for a tasty weeknight meal packed with Mexican-inspired flavors.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2-3 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1 pound ground chicken or ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For Serving

  • Tortillas
  • Freshly shredded cheddar cheese
  • Freshly shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • Salsa
  • Avocado
  • Any other taco fixins you prefer

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil: Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the ground meat.
  2. Cook and season the meat: Add the ground chicken or turkey to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes, breaking up the meat with the back of a wooden spoon. Sprinkle in the taco seasoning and stir thoroughly to combine and distribute the flavors evenly.
  3. Simmer the meat: Add 2 tablespoons of water to the skillet, reduce the heat to a simmer, and let it cook for 10 minutes. This step allows the flavors to meld and the meat to become fully cooked and tender.
  4. Serve your tacos: Spoon the seasoned ground chicken into warm tortillas and top with shredded cheddar, Monterey Jack, salsa, avocado, and any additional taco fixings you like.

Notes

  • You can use ground turkey as a substitute for ground chicken with equal results.
  • Adjust the amount of taco seasoning based on your spice preference.
  • To make it gluten-free, ensure your taco seasoning and tortillas are certified gluten-free.
  • Customize toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, or jalapeños for added flavor and texture.
