This recipe for Homemade Uncrustables shows you how to create classic crustless peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at home quickly and easily. Perfect for lunchboxes or snacks, these sealed sandwiches are both portable and delicious, customizable with your favorite nut butter, jelly, or fresh fruit slices for added freshness and flavor.

Ingredients

Bread

  • 2 slices whole wheat bread (or bread of choice – Nature’s Own recommended)

Fillings

  • 1-2 Tablespoons peanut butter (or other nut butter)
  • 1 Tablespoon jelly or jam (your favorite flavor)
  • Optional: fresh fruit slices, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Lay out bread: Place the slices of bread flat on a clean surface. If adding fresh fruit, thinly slice them and keep aside.
  2. Spread nut butter: Evenly spread peanut butter or your chosen nut butter on one slice of bread.
  3. Spread jam: Evenly spread jelly or jam on the other slice of bread.
  4. Add fruit: If using fresh fruit slices, arrange them neatly on top of the slice with peanut butter.
  5. Top: Carefully place the jelly-covered slice on top of the peanut butter slice, matching the edges to make a sandwich. Press gently to distribute fillings evenly.
  6. Cut: Use a round sandwich sealer, cookie cutter, or glass to cut out a circle from the sandwich, removing the crusts. Press firmly for a clean cut.
  7. Seal: If using a sandwich sealer, insert the sandwich piece and press down to seal. If using a cookie cutter or glass, use a fork to press and crimp the edges to seal the sandwich fully to prevent filling leakage.

Notes

  • Use whole wheat or your preferred bread for a healthier option.
  • Adjust the amount of peanut butter and jelly to your taste.
  • You can substitute peanut butter with other nut or seed butters.
  • Adding thinly sliced fresh fruit like strawberries or bananas gives a fresh twist.
  • Press firmly when sealing to prevent the filling from leaking.
  • These sandwiches are perfect for lunchboxes and can be stored in the refrigerator for a few hours before eating.
