This creamy and flavorful Shrimp & Crab Dip combines tender snow crab meat and succulent shrimp with rich cream cheese, tangy sour cream, savory cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses. Enhanced with garlic, green onions, Old Bay seasoning, and lemon zest, it’s baked to bubbly perfection and topped with fresh green onion and tomato. Perfect as a warm appetizer served with crackers, crostini, or fresh veggies.

Ingredients

Seafood

  • 8 ounces cooked fresh snow crab meat, chopped into ½” pieces
  • 8 ounces cooked medium shrimp with tails removed, chopped into ¼” pieces

Base & Dairy

  • 8 ounces regular cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup good quality mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup regular sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded medium cheddar cheese
  • ¾ cup shredded Parmesan cheese, divided

Seasonings & Garnish

  • ¼ cup chopped green onion
  • 4 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Sliced green onion and chopped Roma tomato for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Drain: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Press the crab and shrimp between paper towels repeatedly until excess moisture is removed, preventing a watery dip.
  2. Mix Base Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Mix thoroughly until smooth and creamy.
  3. Incorporate Cheeses and Seasonings: Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, half of the Parmesan cheese (½ cup), chopped green onion, minced garlic, Old Bay seasoning, and lemon zest to the creamy base. Mix well to combine.
  4. Add Seafood: Gently fold the chopped crab and shrimp into the mixture, being careful not to break up the seafood pieces.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Transfer the dip mixture into a baking dish, spreading evenly. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese (¼ cup) evenly over the top.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the dip is bubbling and the top turns lightly browned.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the dip rest for 5-10 minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions and chopped Roma tomato. Serve warm with crackers, crostini, tortilla chips, celery sticks, or carrots.

Notes

  • Removing excess moisture from seafood is key to preventing a watery dip.
  • Use quality mayonnaise and sour cream for the best creamy texture.
  • Old Bay seasoning adds a classic seafood flavor but can be adjusted to taste.
  • Letting the dip rest after baking helps it set slightly for easier serving.
  • Serve with your choice of crunchy sides like crackers or fresh vegetables.
