Sumac Sauce Ingredients

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup low-fat yogurt or Greek yogurt (plus more as desired, see notes)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice (plus more to taste)
  • 1 small clove garlic, finely minced or crushed
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground sumac
  • ½ teaspoon salt (plus more to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper (plus more to taste)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a small bowl, mix together the sour cream, low-fat or Greek yogurt, lemon zest, lemon juice, minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, ground sumac, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
  2. Adjust Seasonings: Taste the sauce and add more lemon juice, salt, or pepper according to your preference to balance the tanginess and seasoning.
