Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup low fat buttermilk
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 small avocado
  • 1 tbsp fresh cilantro
  • 1 tsp fresh dill
  • 2 tbsp lime juice (about 1 whole lime)
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 3/4 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper (or to taste)
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add sour cream, low fat buttermilk, mayonnaise, avocado, fresh cilantro, fresh dill, lime juice, garlic clove, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes to a blender or food processor.
  2. Blend to Desired Consistency: Pulse the mixture until it becomes thick and creamy, ensuring all ingredients are well combined into a smooth sauce.
  3. Serve or Store: Serve the sauce immediately for the freshest flavor, or transfer into an airtight container and refrigerate to enjoy later. The sauce keeps well for up to 3-4 days in the fridge.

Notes

  • Adjust salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste for desired seasoning and heat level.
  • Use ripe avocado for the creamiest texture and best flavor.
  • If the sauce is too thick, add a little more buttermilk to thin it out.
  • This sauce is great as a dip, salad dressing, or topping for tacos and grilled meats.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
