A quick and healthy snack recipe for crispy kale chips made effortlessly in an air fryer. This simple recipe uses fresh kale, olive oil, and a pinch of salt to create a crunchy, flavorful alternative to traditional chips that’s perfect for snacking or serving as a nutritious side.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch kale (about 5 cups), any type
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat for a few minutes while you prepare the kale.
  2. Prepare Kale: Remove large stems from the kale leaves and tear the leaves into 2-3 inch pieces for even cooking.
  3. Wash and Dry Kale: Rinse the kale leaves thoroughly and dry them completely using a paper towel or clean kitchen cloth to ensure crispiness.
  4. Toss Kale with Oil and Salt: In a large mixing bowl, add the kale pieces, olive oil, and salt. Massage the ingredients together by hand to coat all the leaves evenly with oil and salt.
  5. Arrange in Air Fryer Basket: Place the kale pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to exceed the fill line for even cooking.
  6. Air Fry: Cook the kale chips at 375°F for about 4-6 minutes. Toss the chips halfway through to ensure they crisp evenly on all sides.
  7. Remove and Serve: Once the kale chips are crispy and lightly browned, carefully remove the basket from the air fryer and transfer the chips to a serving dish.

Notes

  • Ensure the kale is completely dry before air frying to achieve the best crispiness.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary for even crisping.
  • Feel free to experiment with seasoning by adding garlic powder, paprika, or nutritional yeast for extra flavor.
  • Store leftover kale chips in an airtight container for up to 2 days to maintain crispness.
